Pawson Transport Ltd aims to offer a comprehensive training programme across the business. To achieve this, we employ a dedicated, in-house Driver Trainer who delivers on-site training and ensures we meet this objective.

Driver training forms an essential part of our fleet management programme. It equips our drivers to operate company vehicles safely and efficiently, while also helping to reduce vehicle accidents. We continually monitor and measure driver performance to maintain high operational standards.

We provide all new drivers with a company induction and vehicle familiarisation training before they start work. We operate a Driver Development programme called Road Skills, a high quality industry recognized e learning scheme. This covers all aspects of transport legislation in a toolbox talk format and questions to test understanding. We operate a compliance portal which is a web based reference source for anything they may need to conduct their job properly and safely. We also have a Driver Trainer who will teach defensive driving, economical and environmentally responsible driving techniques. All drivers have completed the statutory Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) training, which became a legal requirement in September 2014, and we continue this training annually to ensure compliance.

We equip our modern fleet with advanced vehicle telematics. The on-board systems generate real-time and historical data on individual driver performance. By analysing this data, we can identify areas for improvement and provide targeted support or additional training where needed.

Modern professional drivers must combine qualifications with up-to-date skills and strong competence. We ensure that every driver has the ability to perform their role safely, courteously, and with full consideration for other road users.
