Caring for the environment is a key priority for our business—one that presents unique challenges given the nature of our industry. Nevertheless, we are committed to continually improving our environmental performance.

We believe that efficient, well-managed operations naturally lead to reduced resource consumption. By embedding environmental considerations into our decision-making, we aim to adopt more sustainable practices wherever possible.

Reducing Our Environmental Impact

We are actively working to lower emissions and improve efficiency across our operations by:

• Installed an on-site truck wash that recycles water, reducing both water usage and unnecessary travel
• Upgrading our fleet to Euro 6 engines to reduce emissions
• Using CANbus data to monitor and improve driver performance and environmental impact
• Providing SAFED driver training to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce emissions
• Recycling materials such as oil, tyres, and batteries locally
• Transitioning site lighting to energy-efficient LED fittings

We are also exploring future renewable energy solutions, including the potential installation of a wind turbine. Renewable energy sources such as wind and solar produce no greenhouse gas emissions and will play an important role in meeting future environmental targets.

Supporting Biodiversity

We recognise that wildlife is under increasing pressure due to habitat loss and climate change. To help address this, we have introduced several site-specific initiatives to support and enhance local biodiversity:

• Creating landscaped boundary areas to provide natural habitats for wildlife
• Planting trees, shrubs, and hedgerows to offer shelter and food sources
• Establishing wildflower areas to support bees, butterflies, and other pollinators
• Installing bird boxes, including those designed for barn owls, to encourage birdlife and support natural pest control

While these steps may seem modest, they reflect our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility. By continuing to improve and invest in sustainable practices, we aim not only to reduce our own impact but also to help create a greener supply chain for our customers.
